OMREB GETS THE JOB DONE
| | Local realtors and businesses pitch in A sunny July weekend brought over 40 volunteers from the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (Central Okanagan chapter) to our Elk Road site to landscape our second duplex. Within hours, smiling volunteers shovelled out topsoil, rolled out sod, planted xeriscape plants, and spread landscape rock to transform our yards. Many thanks to the volunteers but a special hats off to Michael Craddock (Re/Max Kelowna Westside) and Sheryl Lobsinger (Royal LePage Kelowna), as well as to Burnco and Burnco Aggregate, Accent Homes, T. Lewis Trucking & Bulldozing, Shee Wee Construction & Landscaping, The Greenery, Sun-Oka Valley Transport, Bylands Nurseries, Hungry Hound, Home Depot West Kelowna, Dogwood Nursery, Coldwell Banker Horizon Realty, Aclands Landscaping, MacDonald's Westside, Joel Sherlock (ReMax Kelowna) Sharon Fraess (Royal LePage), and Westland Insurance for their donations of supplies, equipment and refreshments. More donors in the column opposite.

SORORITY SISTERS FOR STAR

Donations to Star's Pay it Forward campaign
Marcia of Preceptor Gamma Omega -- Beta sigma Phi wrote us that "The women in my sorority... were celebrating the retirement of one of our sisters. The retiring sister did not want any gifts or cards and so it was decided that we would all contribute and give money to a worthy cause.... One of our sisters heard about a house being built in Kelowna for a struggling family and it was decided that we would send our contribution to Habitat for Humanity Kelowna in support of Star and her family." Marcia added, "Some of us know of families who have been helped by your organization."

HFH KELOWNA: A RETROSPECTIVE
| | The journey of a lifetimeWhen Marion Bremner called a public meeting in 1992 to see if anyone was interested in bringing Habitat for Humanity to Kelowna, she had no idea she was starting a journey that would take her flying past Mount Everest, working shoulder-to-shoulder with former US president Jimmy Carter, and serving with other volunteers to help Habitat for Humanity establish itself in every province in Canada and around the world.
