EQUINE AFFAIRE 2012 was the site of a successful event for the Gypsy Vanners
and the presentation of the breed. Old Mill Farm, KD Gypsy Vanners, Pegasus
Place Gypsy Vanners, Chocolate Horse Farm, Rose Rybak, Jeannette Genthner,
Vanner Manor, Griffin Sport Horses, and Hidden Valley Farm participated in
4 breed demos and represented the GVHS in the breed booth over the 4 day
event. Kelly Searson and her gelding, Too Hot To Spot, also did a presentation
in the Youth Pavilion ring and also participated in a driving clinic.
Rose Rybak and Witch Hollow Bell Bottom Blues in the Saturday evening breed demo where everyone was in "fantasy gypsy costume". This pair also participated in some clinics during the event.
GG L Divo waiting to start a breed demo with owner Louise Brandon Shane in the
cart and trainer Bruce Griffin on the lines. Stacy Griffin is at the left on Austin.
Jeanette Genthner and her mare Lake Ridge Fairytale Rapunzel
Taylor LeVan and her filly HVF She's A Keeper
Rita Cardy on her stallion, The Pleasure's Mine, and Syla Cardy on the gelding
Pleasure. Special thank you to Bonnie Gyetko, creator of Bonnie's Bells, who
gave a generous gift of a set of Rhythm Beads to each Gypsy Vanner farm in
attendance at the event. All the horses wore their beautiful jewelry in the
Saturday and Sunday breed demos.

International Stallion Exposition 2011 at Michigan State University
Well for the Second year in a row, WillowWind Stable's stallions have come through. This past March at the International Stallion Expo held at Michigan State University, the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society was represented by 'The Alchemist' (aka Laddy), a 15.1hh, 4 year old Tri-colored stallion, and they received this year's Championship award, again, so that's 2 in a row, (last year they brought WW Brigadoon).
With over 30,000 patrons attending the 3 day event, WillowWind Stable hosted the GVHS Booth, this year with the video playing "Vanner Faire 2011" which was taped by Mark Barrett. This video stopped many of the visitors who watched it in its entirety. With help from friends, the expo takes over 8 hours to set up, we start on Wednesday with Stall decorating; then the horses show up in the afternoon on Thursday for their turn of bathing and primping.
The showed opened up for the Kramar's at 8am on Friday, which is the student educational walk thru, classroom sessions and the question & answer periods, this, with a few school bus loads of eager children attending. The Alchemist was this year's Ambassador for the Expo.
The show officially opened at 10am Friday, and 'away we go' as Kim puts it. The doors opened and the crowds poured in. We had an extra ordinary amount of curious and rather informed patrons come through the GVHS stall area, over the past 12 years, the Gypsy Vanner is making a presence at the Expo and in the horse industry, and as always the highlight of the booths is the ever so accommodating Gypsy Vanner and the 50" screen TV with videos playing. This year we had video " Vanner Faire 2011" on screen, this was one of the best videos we've had, as Mandy put it, it's been on line for months, but playing it on the big screen, explaining about the Vanner's and what they are about is a big help. We even had a few of other Expo participants that don't have Vanner's interested in coming to the Faire in 2013, just to see what the Society is all about, and of course, to see the Vanner's themselves at the Faire.
