Meet R & R Stables

RR Stables      Born and raised in the Midwest, Moline, Illinois. I have 6 siblings, and the greatest parents on earth! Married David Ostrom in 1995, and have a son, Drake, 16 and a daughter, Rianna, 14 the other joys in my life.

I can contribute my love for horses due to a keen interest my daughter, Rianna acquired in 2005.  I wanted to share her enthusiasm and take this journey together.

GENTLE,VIVID,HONORABLE & STRIKING are just a few of the characteristics that attracted me to this stunning horse, the Gypsy Vanner. My love and passion gradually grew into a unique addiction for this beautiful and exceptional creature.

In 2009 after much research, I found the perfect Gypsy Vanner.  I attribute my findings to my good friend Pamela Litz, whom I hold in high regard for her superior knowledge of the Gypsy Vanner.  Pamela was a terrific help in assisting me to finding my dream horse.

My first and most memorable horse was, 'The Headliner.' He was nothing less than perfect. I loved this horse like no other. Since his unfortunate passing in the late Spring of 2011, I have gained five other Gypsies with one of them being the son of 'The Headliner'. 'The Headliners Understudy' has so many qualities of his father, I am sure 'Understudy' will also be my "Perfect Gentleman."  We have no intentions of breeding so we are proud owners of all geldings. We feel they shouldn't all remain stallions just because they're a rare breed in the United States.

In September of 2009, Ostrom Farms, LLC/ R&R Stables was established in Milan, Illinois. Now your probably asking yourself, "What does R&R stand for?" Rita & Rianna, or as some guess, 'Rest & Relaxation.' We have 65 acres of land, 18 acres of which are alfalfa hay. White cross buck fencing which surrounds our heated 8 stall barn with an indoor riding arena. We anticipate to build our new home on the land this year.

We are looking forward to attending this years annual GVHS meeting in Lewisville, Texas. Hoping to learn more about this beautiful breed and society, and  become acquainted with its members. As for now, I am overly excited for a BIG and EXCITING year with my boys! Along with our many ventures, I am hoping to become more involved with the GVHS.
