Attention All GVHS Members:

Leadership Roundtable

An Opportunity for All Members to Meet to Develop a Future Strategy for the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society.

Using a "think tank" technique for organizational leadership, the members will be provided an opportunity to openly and orderly discusss the current status and the future growth for the breed.

This proven process will give the GVHS membership an opportunity to express their suggestions for advancing the organization and supporting the breed.

Where:  Holiday Inn Airport (special GVHS rate), Nashville, Tennessee

When:  August 21 and 22, 2011

More details of this important event will be forthcoming in a few days.

Mark your calendars. Plan to attend.

From the Registrar:

The Canadian postal service strike is now over, so hopefully the mail backlog will get sorted soon, and any registration information stuck in the system will arrive.

If you are expecting a registration and have not received it, and it is not stuck in the Canadian mail system,  then its probably because we are waiting on something from you.  Give us a call or email to find out.   If everything is received and approved, once you submit the DNA sample, the normal turnaround time for you to receive your registration certificate is one month or less.

Don't wait too late if you need to get your horse(s) registered to attend the Vanner Fair or a show.

 4H demo

Charlotte Money of BriarCroft Stables was invited to bring Gypsy Vanners and provide a demonstration to 4H members attending the Indiana State 4H Horse Camp.  Assisted by Kathy Flanary and special guest Debbie Ivins, four Gypsy Vanner horses attended.  The 4H members were able to see 4 year old Gypsy Vanner Stallion, The Briar Prince, being ridden both English and Western.  Two year old Cowboy Casanova and yearling, Pleasures Devlin Doll were presented in halter.  Four year old gelding, Zeus, was presented by Debbie being driven.  Information was given on the qualities of the Gypsy Vanner, their history, as well as the breed standard.  Debbie Ivins and Zeus also did a demonstration on choosing and fitting a harness to your horse.  Afterwards, all horses were returned to the arena and the youth (and leaders, too) were permitted to come down and meet the horses up close and personal.  The presentation was enjoyed by all who attended - people and horses alike.

Flag Day Parade....

On Saturday, June 11th,
 the Gypsy Vanners of
Feathered Gold made
history being the first horses
ever allowed in the Appleton,
 Wisconsin Flag Day Parade.
Being the longest running Flag
 Day Parade in the United
 States, the City of Appleton
began this tradition in 1950
and it is still going strong
61 years later. The Gypsy
 Vanners of Feathered Gold
were very well received by
 the over 55,000 parade
goers in attendance along
the 3 mile route. We were
thrilled to be able to share
our wonderful horses with the
public in such a great venue.
