The Tradition Continues on October 1-3!
It might be hot, humid, and steamy right now in western New York but fall is in the air at the Chamber. We are in full go mode with plans for the 33rd Annual Falling Leaves Festival. This year's event is jam packed with favorite community activities as well as some new ones to keep the excitement high. Mark you calendar now for this fun-filled weekend featuring art and craft vendors, food concessions, live music, car show, Morton's Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, roving entertainment, beer tent, and the zany and hilarious bed races, hot dog and hula hoop contests. NEW this year will be an outdoors and sportsman show area displaying all those accessories to make the most out of the four seasons in western New York. The young and, well, not-so-young can enjoy the carnival rides and games and of course the weekend highlight is the Grande Parade on Sunday. We are still accepting applications for food concession, art and craft vendors, and outdoor show exhibitors. Contact Jenny Ingrao, Events Specialist for an application or check our website for updates on the event schedule.

Salamanca: Tourism Crossroads and Cultural Destination
Follow the question mark to Main Street, Salamanca! Okay, this might sound like a riddle but the answer is quite clear: Salamanca is a cultural destination and at the crossroads for over 6 million annual visitors to local attractions. The iconic blue question mark signs that are posted on each of the I-86 Salamanca exit signs lead visitors and tourists that are in need of travel information right to the front door of the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce. Did you know that the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce maintains a full service tourism and visitor information center in our Main Street office location? Just this month alone, the Chamber staff have welcomed visitors from all over the United States, Italy, Canada, France, Fiji, New Zealand, and Spain who have followed the questions marks to our front door in search of travel information and activity ideas. We are happy to direct visitors to our local attractions, quality museums, fine dining, and of course comfortable and affordable lodging options. Many people are just travelling through and taking a rest break in Salamanca but once we talk about all of the engaging cultural and outdoor activities available in our community, many people state they are planning a return destination visit.
We invite our local residents to stop in sometime and browse our full selection of local, regional, and state tourism information, brochures, pamphlets, and maps (all free by the way) and start planning your local "staycation" or out-of-the-area getaway. Chamber staff are happy to direct you to local attractions and activities that you might not realize are right in our community's backyard, and we love to talk about all the cultural activities and assets found right here in Salamanca, the Allegany Territory for the Seneca Nation of Indians. The Chamber office at 26 Main Street is open Monday - Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. If you are interested in volunteering for a few hours on weekends in our information center, contact Kimberly Driscoll, Director of Programs and Business Advancement, at 945-2034 or kimberly@salamancachamber.org.
