Feature article
Resistance is Futile (part 1)
No, actually resistance is good, and necessary!

Mule - resistance'People don't like change', we hear so often.  Well, if change is brought upon me, and it is not my choice, and I can't control it, and it affects what matters to me, then of course I don't like it, and I will resist.

And you know what?  My resistance is not 'bad' it is good....

Leading People Through Change
Free half day seminar at The Lansdowne Club, Mayfair - November 25th

Project directors, sponsors and managers must deal with: Stakeholder politics, team member stresses and user resistance.  Project management and change methodologies are useful, but far from sufficient.  Taking control is not easy when all around are clinging to the control they are losing.

If this challenge is relevant to you, you may be interested in this complimentary event.

Book review
Facilitating Risk Management
by Penny Pullan & Ruth Murray-Webster
Facilitating Risk front cover
A much needed topic, covered in a practical, no-nonsense style. As a 'short guide to', it doesn't go into the depths of risk behaviour or a full description of workshop tools, however it does give sound advice on the most important issues in facilitating risk processes.

It's a good length too which is a good sign that is isn't 'padded out' as many business books are. If you lead risk workshops or manage risk as a responsibility, I'd recommend spending this time on it to reduce the risk of your risk workshops not working!
