    Hello Everyone,

We will soon start up the Summer Food Program for all youth, 18 years and younger, in conjunction with the Atlantic School System. If you have not heard about this program please stop by or call the front desk. You must register your child in advance for this free lunch and snack program. This is a great benefit to you and your family so check it out. If you would like to volunteer for this wonderful program please give us a call and see how you can help.

Our Partnership With Youth Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 19th at 9am. Sign your team up today for a 4 person best shot format at Nishna Hills Golf Course. All proceeds go toward our scholarship program and your team signup would be appreciated. The golf is always a good time and just about everyone walks away with prize money or a door prize. The cost is only $120 per foursome which includes mulligans so get your team entered today. See the front desk for a sign up form.

In the next couple of months the YMCA will be evaluating our fitness class offerings and working to enhance and refresh things for the fall. If you have email you should have received a survey from us about your fitness preferences. If you did not receive the email but wish to suggest a new class, time, or other comment related to our fitness class offerings, I would encourage you to email or call Lori Robinson to get your two cents in on this subject. Call 243-3934 or email her at lrobinson@nishnavalleyymca.com.

The new Ann W. Wickman Child Development Center is coming to completion and we hope to open things up at the end of the month. In the next few weeks we will be in need of some volunteers to help unpack, put together, carry, clean, dust, organize, plant, decorate, water, and probably many other things as we prepare for opening day. If you have any time or interest in helping prepare the new center for opening please let Dianna Williams know by calling 243-3934. Your help would be very much appreciated. If you know of families in need of childcare or preschool services please let Dianna know as well or pick up a brochure at the front desk. Spots are limited and will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Watch for our open house times and come check out the new center.

As the YMCA continues to grow and change and our facility continues to age, the YMCA will begin to face challenges with equipment and facility upkeep. In order to keep our rates as low as possible the YMCA will need to have new sources of funds to keep the facility and equipment up to date. Our goal is to keep our community, members, and guests outfitted with state of the art equipment and facilities so that we can continue to meet their fitness, recreation, and wellness needs. In order to do this it is very important that we look for funding other than membership to achieve this. This is a great opportunity for each of us as individuals or families to leave a lasting legacy for future generations. Please consider what you and your family have gained or benefited from the YMCA as it has been in existence during your lifetime and then consider leaving a lasting legacy gift in your estate plans for future generations. This can be as easy as designating the YMCA as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or a portion of a policy. With your attorney or financial planners help it could be more substantial by designating a portion of your estate, property, land, residual funds, stocks, or other items of value. You can do many of these things with a very attractive tax savings to your estate and still take care of family and loved ones. Check out the opportunities available with your estate planner and talk with the YMCA about how you can be recognized for your legacy gift. All of us can do a little which turns into something big when put together with our friends and neighbors who love the Y. Talk to me about how you can make a difference.

Have a great month!

Dan
