3 Church Practices
Every Ministry Should Implement In Human Resources For Successful Employee Culture

Amy Parrish shares her advice to ministry leaders on the fist steps in preparing a successful employee culture:

 1. First, review any available ministry or denominational procedures that are already in place concerning employees as a guide.

Some examples include: bylaws, job descriptions, benefits and retirement and a dispute resolution policy. A due diligence is required for all staff and volunteers who work with children.

2. Create an employee handbook and
follow it!

Make sure all team members agree to follow this handbook and know who they can go to for questions. At a very minimum, have employees sign an ethical conduct policy addressing some of the following:

  • Confidentiality
  • Financial Integrity
  • Sexual Misconduct

3. Encourage employees toward teamwork and conduct periodic evaluations/performance reviews.

We recommend, at a minimum, to check in with employees for weekly update/encouragement meetings and conduct yearly performance reviews.

This list does not cover all the steps needed when creating human resource policies. It is best to consult an attorney when implementing policies that affect you and your team.

Day of Prayer, We Want To Hear From You!

Today is May 5th, the Day of Prayer!

Tell us what you are praying for today by replying to this e-mail.  We will post anonymously on our our facebook what is on the hearts of ministries such as yours.

Mauck & Baker's Prayer List:

We will be praying for the court justices, lawyers who don't know Christ yet, and the individuals who enter the court rooms carrying heavy burdens.

Day of Prayer History:

This annual day of observance is held on the first Thursday of May. It is designated by the United States Congress, where people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation".

Each year, the president signs a proclamation to encourage all Americans to pray on this day. The observance was formally recognized in 1952.
