Hello Hot Rodders!

After eleven shows, in 7 cities, the Hooters Cup Series IX has finally concluded.  This year's HCS has set attendance records and the series continues to bring out some of the best rides Chicago has to offer.  The Grand Champion Show was held this past weekend and returned to the Hooters of Downers Grove. The place was jamming with cars wrapped around the building as the two new Grand Champions were awarded.

Kevin Flonder, pictured here with his family is from New Lenox. He and his father designed and built the 1956 Chevy Custom El Camino out of their shop, with the help of their loyal staff at the Bump & Grind Auto Body in Homer Glen.2009 Grand Champion Car  The Hooters Cup Series VIII first saw this beauty at the Grand Champion Show in Orland Park last year. The Custom El Camino took Best of Show that day and Kevin's Dad had a great time and all truly enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately, Kevin's father passed last Thanksgiving.  Kevin, family, and crew decided to dedicate the year and attempt to earn the title of Hooters Cup Grand Champion. They were not only successful in earning the title but also shared a lot of time with each other along the way.  Congratulations Kevin !

Ray Jacobson of Plainfield rolled into the first show of the HCS IX at the Hooters of Joliet in mid May and never looked back.  He took home the Best of Show award that day 2009 Grand Champion Bikeand many more to come as well. In fact, Ray and his 2006 Custom Pro Street Chopper was the winner of 6 consecutive Hooter shows.  It is indeed a work of art, a thing or bike of beauty. Pictured around the Bike, is Kevin and his family, all who have attended a quite of few shows this summer, traveling throughout the Chicagoland area.

Job well done by each of you!
