MICHAEL - installer, programmer, IC recycle-runner:

Did you know about a cool, technology feature that involves resettable outlets for Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)?  With it, when a piece of equipment is not being used, like an amplifier or home theater receiver, we can turn off that outlet and not use any standby power.

Many manufacturers are also adding the ability to reset or reboot a piece of equipment remotely if the power distribution piece is IP (web) controlled. For clients with equipment located in the basement - or in difficult to reach spaces - being able to reset the satellite or cable box from their computer would be a huge benefit!

A SPECIAL MESSAGE
We would like to send a big CONGRATULATIONS to David Schaub, with Schaub Design Group, as he has recently completed his AIA certification with flying colors!

Dave has been a friend and industry partner of Integration Controls for a long time and we know how hard he worked for this accomplishment.  Congratulations, Dave... as always, job well done!
Greetings!

Welcome and thank you for reading this edition of News & Review!

With a ton of interest in the upcoming Earth Day Electronics Recycling Drive, current clients updating and upgrading systems, and a project in the country, 2010 is showing signs of a better economy.

Even with a gentle upturn in the economy, people are still staying home more and are sprucing up their home to fit lifestyle habits.  We enjoy being a part of this transition as we get to see our clients experience their house in a whole new way.  Check the list below and let us know if you are interested in making your home more user-friendly.  We have solutions for systems that pain you.

In this issue, you'll also find exciting updates on the Earth Day collection event and a technical tidbit from one of our own technical gurus - as well as a special 'congratulations' to a dear friend of Integration Controls.

Happy reading!
Updating and Upgrading
Two U's, where we put You first.

When prospective clients contact us about options for their existing home, the conversation often takes one of two paths, that of updating or that of upgrading.  Though some gray areas exists between the two, essentially it comes down to this:

- Does the client want to incorporate new technology into their home? i.e. update
OR
- Does the client want to improve or enhance their current experience? i.e. upgrade

In either case, the client is looking to us to fix one (or many) of their pains.  Perhaps you can relate to a few of the examples below, all from our current clientele.

  • When we go on vacation, we want our house to look lived-in.  Do you have one, easy, solution to turn on a handful of lights around the house?

  • We own a lot of family-friendly movies and cartoons, but the DVD cases are driving us up the wall.  When we finally find one, we are lucky if it even has the movie inside!

  • The piles of remotes - and the batteries - are just too much.  I just want a 'clicker': one button that does it all.

  • I already have a music, movie, lighting, or automation system through another contractor and I'm just not happy.  What can you do to make it work?  Easily...

  • I am the only one in the family who knows how to turn stuff on/off.  It's great when I'm in town, but I travel a lot.  I'd like my wife and kids to be able to enjoy music more often.

So - is it updating or upgrading?

The answers matter to a certain extent, but what's really important is that the service or system you purchase eases YOUR (and your family's) pain.  Consider improving your experience with the electronics you currently own and/or incorporating new technology, when deciding to upgrade or update... and remember - it's all about YOU!
