CEDIA EXPO

Recap and a glimpse of the future!

This year, Integration Controls went to Atlanta, GA, for the annual Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association EXPO.

While there, we took many (many, many...) classes, got a chance to see new technologies (some shipping, some coming), and became a Registered Outreach Instructor!  We have highlighted just a few of the updates below for homeowners, architects and designers, and builders - though there were countless more.
Take a minute or two for an insider's look:
  • Homeowners:
    • Super slim LED TVs were a hit with every manufacturer.  Here's a picture of an LG LED TV, solid glass front TV (no bezel!) Samsung TVs looked really nice too!  All makes are energy efficient.

    • Sonos users (or future Sonos users) are thrilled at the new handheld, touchscreen controller!  It's user-friendly, small, and just awesome!

    • The great people at Kaleidescape always have a great booth.  There's no better way to (legally) manage movies and music.

    • Home Cinema goes beyond 'home theater' and the people at Professional Home Cinema  proved it to us in their demo.  Amazing sound quality, efficient power consumption, low-heat amplification... These guys know what they are doing and we are proud to use their products in our designs.

  • Architects and Designers:
    • Digital signage is everywhere!  Next time you are at the grocery store, chances are you will see a flat screen somewhere displaying specials, recipes, etc. Incorporate it into your design early, so it doesn't look like an afterthought.

    • Putting the 'CUSTOM' in Custom Home Cinema, these theater chairs are the ultimate in themed rooms (and they are comfy too!)

    • Movie posters without the actual poster? Go digital and easily update for new releases!

    • Need continuing education credits?  Members of certain industry partner associations (AIA, AIBD, NAHB, ASID, and more) can receive continuing education credit and gain an expert resource in the residential technologies industry.  As the only provider currently authorized in Missouri, Integration Controls can now offer these credits through CEDIA's Registered Outreach Instructor program

  • Builders:
    • Sound isolation is a huge component when building a Custom Home Cinema - not only with what actually goes in the room (sound treatments), but also the design and construction of the room itself.

    • Innovative LED products are hitting the market like never before due to their 'green' energy efficient applications.  One company, Innovolt, has a great (inexpensive) line of products that span a variety of uses.  Check them out!
OFF - TOPIC

Occassionally, we will take space in our newsletter to inform our readers about something completely unrelated to our industry.  This happens to be one of those times.

A designer colleague of ours emailed last month to let us know about a benefit being held for a young family who has recently suffered a great loss, leaving three children without a mother.

If you are interested in attending a benefit dinner for this young family, or possibly donating to the cause, please visit this website for more information.
Thank you for reading this edition of News and Review.  While the majority of the newsletter was dedicated to a recap of the expo, we also gave a glimpse into technological advances as well as a sneak peek at our website animation.

If you'd like to jumpstart the holiday season, feel free to visit the website mentioned in 'Off-Topic' above.  My husband, Jeff, and I plan on attending the event and would love to see you there.

Thanks again for reading.  Enjoy your October and have a Happy Halloween!

Sincerely,

Jamie Briesemeister
