Building Customer Relationships
 

 

In recent years, the buyer-seller relationship has changed. The customer has more power than ever before. She researches extensively online prior to ever contacting or visiting your business. Because of this, you need to consciously build relationships with your customers by actively communicating and proactively providing solutions.

 

Impact

Communications with potential and current clients should have meaning. You need to demonstrate the impact your business will have on their lives. As you do this, you'll find customers who are more responsive to your messages. This is especially true for social media. As the dialogue progresses, trust develops and your customers will be more apt to recommend your business to their contacts. By working at the relationship, you have loyal clients and also create advocates of your business.

 

Cross-Selling

We all know that it costs more to bring on a new client than it does to develop an existing client. So how can your product or service be enhanced to expand the work you are doing with your current clients? Are there different services you offer that can be presented in a package? Has your client mentioned additional services that would help her? Step up and provide them. Try to do a quarterly review of your clients, so that you can be proactive in proposing solutions.

 

Communicating with clients and creating a dialogue builds a foundation of trust and partnership in your business relationship. Remember, people do business with people they know, like and trust. 

Networking Tip

Networking Groups 

At this time of year, you've probably started planning for next year. It's a great time to review the connections you made and the prospects you met. Where did you meet the most? This is a way for you to evaluate your networking groups.

 

Take a look at the investments you made in terms of money, time, and effort in being a part of the group. Was it beneficial to you and your business? If it was, continue to work at those relationships. If not, research new groups and expand your networking circle.
