Greetings!
Where has the summer gone? While I've spent some time at the shore, it's gone too fast. But let's get ready for fall! I grew up in a household of teachers, so I have always lived by an academic calendar. I like the school year because it brings a "normal" schedule. Are you ready to get back to your regular routine?
I'm excited to announce the start of a seminar series presented by Richard Associates. We will be covering networking, marketing and other business topics to help you succeed. Our first seminars will be held on Sept. 27, Oct. 18, and Nov. 15. The details for the first two presentations are outlined in the Newsworthy section below. I hope you will be able to join us!

 Social Media
Do you use social media, like LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter? I hope so. It's one of the best and most cost-effective ways to keep your business in the forefront. Essentially, you need social media for your business to be visible online. By using specific keywords, creating and adding to discussions, and writing a blog or tweeting, you increase the probability of your business being "found" on the Internet. You become an expert because people find you and follow you.

Because you will be considered an expert, you need to be sure that your profiles and messages match your mission and branding. Once it's on the Internet, it can't be retracted. Take time to ensure that your messages are clear, engaging and relevant to your contacts.
And, while technology is a powerful tool, social media is just one aspect of an integrated marketing strategy. So continue to reach out to your clients and colleagues using more traditional media as well. Also, there is nothing like meeting someone in-person to understand who they are. Set up meetings for coffee or lunch, join a committee, or become involved in an association to be visible and get to know others.

Arrive Early, Stay Late

It's important to arrive early and stay late at networking events so that you are sure to have the opportunity to make as many contacts as possible. By arriving early, you are able to scan the room as others arrive to decide who you would like to approach. In addition, you can talk to the organizers or sponsors of the event before it gets too crowded.
Staying late allows you to follow-up with earlier contacts or connect with people who may have been delayed at the office. A chance introduction could lead to your best contact! |
