"Jesus said...I am the way and the truth and the life." - John 14:6
Periodically whales stop sw imming, raise their heads up out of the water as far as they can and slowly turn 360 degrees, apparently orienting themselves to landmarks above the water. Though they live in water, they find their orientation from out of the water.
So too with those of us seeking to follow Jesus. We live our lives IN the world, but seek our orientation from OUTSIDE our world - from Jesus Christ, crucified and risen. If we lived IN the world, we would assume that we're on the right course by the bearings of wealth, beauty, power and success. But, we're God's whales (no comments about my weight please) and because we're God's whales we take our bearings from different landmarks than the world would suggest.
We raise our heads seeking the signs of forgiveness, love, peace and hope. We raise our heads, seeking out the lost and broken. In short, we orient our lives to the cross -- to Jesus Christ crucified and risen. It is the beacon of his light and love that guides our way.

Question: When was the last time you took some time to reorient your life and claim the values by which you would like to live?

We are doing this in order to try and be better stewards of paper and the generous funds that you provide us through your offerings.
