Learners and Teachers
by Pastor Tony Haglund

"...for this will show your wisdom and discernment to the peoples, who, when they hear...will say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people!'"  Deuteronomy 4:6

It seems to me, that as human beings, gifted with self-awareness, we have two responsibilities; 1) is to be learners and 2) is to be teachers.

As learners we recognize that there is much we do not know and that sometimes our ignorance causes us to think and behave in ways that hurt our neighbor and often times, even ourselves.

As teachers we recognize that many people over our lifetimes have taken the time to help us grow in our humanity and most likely, as a result, the teacher also grew in their humanity.

When it comes to our faith journey, these two identities, learner and teacher, are critical.  Without them, our faith becomes dead or even worse, can become the source of pain for our neighbors and perhaps even for ourselves.

Today we are invited to reflect on these two areas of our lives, especially with regards to our faith.  How are we being intentional about being learners?  How are we growing the Kingdom and growing our own faith lives by being teachers?  For it is through learning and teaching that we grow in the image of God and reveal the image of God in one another.

CLC's Annual Potato Bake will be held Thursday, October 22nd from 11am to 1pm.  Enjoy a great meal while helping us raise funds to help feed the hungry bellies of our community and our world.
Adult Sunday School: Exploring the Book of Faith
Join us Sunday mornings at 8:45 as we study the Scriptures using the ELCA's Book of Faith curriculum.  This is an exciting churchwide initiative to re-center our church body around the Word of God as revealed in Holy Scriptures.  Together we will learn ways to study the Bible devotionally, historically, literarically, and through the lens of our Lutheran theological heritage.  This Sunday we contin
