Greetings!
I'm guessing many of you have plans this holiday weekend so we pray that everyone will stay safe. If you're around on Saturday or Sunday, we hope you'll join us for worship.

This Week's Devotion
Evidence of God
by Pastor Tony Haglund
"Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs" - Luke 18:16
Following Easter Sunday services this year, Cecelia VanDenTop, 4 year-old daughter of Jason and Jaci VanDenTop, approached me and asked if I might make sure the purple plastic egg she was handing me could get to Jesus. Her young cousin had tragically died earlier in the spring but she wanted to give her an Easter present and she was sure that I could get the egg to Jesus and Jesus in turn could get the present to her cousin.
I've been thinking about that story lately because I know one of my temptations is to focus too much on the historical or theological Jesus and forget, that our Savior came not so I would learn about him but rather so that I would enter into relationship with him. And,the relationship we're called into isn't a theological exericise but rather one of trust, comfort and deep abiding friendship.
This holiday weekend, many of us will gather with family and friends to reconnect and celebrate. May we also remember that the type of relationship Jesus wants to have with us is one of intimacy and joy. One that is so aware and connected to his real and abiding presence that it isn't afraid to ask; "can you get this purple egg to my cousin please?" |
What's Happening at the Church
Invitation to 50 Days of Prayer

The staff of CLC will be accepting this invitation to prayer and we would invite members of our congregation to do the same. For more information click here: 50 DAYS OF PRAYER |

New Fall Schedule Proposed
One of the fun problems we have at CLC is an abudance of Sunday School students with not quite enough space. This fall we are proposing adding a second Sunday School session to help address this issue - the twist is that this second Sunday School session will be on Wednesday nights! Look for more information in the July newsletter but begin thinking now whether Wednesday night Sunday School might be an option for your family. In addition to Wednesday School we will also be offering an additional worship service that might be really helpful for families that have to travel a lot on weekends. Following is our proposed Fall Schedule that we would like to test:
Saturday
Worship at 5:00 p.m.
Sunday
Sunday School at 8:45 a.m.
Worship at 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday
Sunday School & Confirmation at 6:15 p.m.
Worship at 7:00 p.m. |
