Already a part of the NYHS Family - Welcome Foreign Exchange Students by Milana Davydov 2012
This year, we welcome two foreign exchange students from Rome, Rafi Naim 2013 and Eitan Della Rocca 2013. A Word from Exchange Student Rafi Naim: Rafi Naim (2013) is a part of the junior class of NYHS for the first semester of the school year. Rafi is from Italy and previously attended Renzo Levi High School. He is fluent in both Italian and Hebrew, and has been brushing up on his English. We asked Rafi a few questions about his experiences in the United States and at NYHS as well. Rafi said that his favorite classes at Yeshiva are "...Mr. Brodkin's Math class and Mr. Kaufman's US History class. I have been learning a lot in those two classes so far." Rafi also talked about how different school is in the United States than it is from Italy. "In Italy we go to school from 8 to 2 everyday. Here it's 8 to 4, which is a lot longer. Also, in Italy we don't switch classrooms for every class we go to. Here we do." Rafi also said that "Even though I get to go home for Thanksgiving break, I'm going to be so excited to come back to all my friends here!" We are so glad to have Rafi here with us from Italy!
Raffy Naim 2013 with Fransisco Gonzalez 2014 A Word from Exchange Student Eitan Della Roca: Eitan Della Roca (2013) is also a new member of the junior class. He will also only be staying for the first semester of the school year. Eitan is from Italy as well and attended Ort High School - a school that emphasizes learning in all areas of Social Studies. While at his school in Italy, Eitan took classes such as Anthropology, Psychology and Language Arts. We asked Eitan a few questions about his experiences in the United States and at NYHS as well. Eitain said that his favorite class at Yeshiva was "...Rabbi Brody's Gemara class." He also said that "All of the Judaic studies are so well organized here. It's not like that in Italy." Eitan also talked about how his high school was "... a school where people go until 2 o'clock. Even though the days are longer here, we get to learn more of everything ." We are so glad to have Eitan and Rafi here with us from Italy! They are already a big part of the NYHS Family. May we all have an easy fast, and a meaningful Yom Kippur. Have a restful weekend and a wonderful Shabbat! Shabbat Shalom! Eitan Della Rocca 2013 (gray sweatshirt) |
