Good Friday ~ Holy Day of Opportunity
Blessings to You!

Today, it appears that many valuable traditions have been discarded. Unfortunately, that means we are missing opportunities to achieve the spiritual mastery we desire. Misunderstood, they have been ignored, rejected, or just fell away. As is so often the case, the "baby was tossed out with the bath water." This is true with the day we observe today, "Good Friday."

Many practicing traditional Christians have forgotten or stopped observing the Good Friday traditions that were practiced for thousands of years. One of those traditions is to observe silence between the hours of 12 Noon and 3 p.m. to reflect on the time Jesus spent on the cross. The other is to meditate on what is called the "Stations of the Cross," which follow Jesus' journey from Gethsemane to Golgotha.

In the New Thought community that Unity is a part of, many folks do not want to focus on Good Friday and the Crucifixion, saying that it is too negative and about death and suffering, where we should be focusing on the resurrection.

We can't change what we don't acknowledge. To stop our daily activities and take the time...even just a short time...to think about; meditate on what Jesus experienced and what it means to follow him, can provide a priceless blessing. In the path he took to his greatest overcoming, we too can learn how to overcome the "cross we bear," (our greatest life-lessons and challenges).

My personal Good Friday tradition is to take time to meditate on the Stations of the Cross in both the literal and metaphysical understanding. It has, for many years now, also been my tradition to offer you the opportunity to do so likewise. I do not offer this as an obligation, rather an opportunity. I see this as valuable for all people of all faiths.

It is my sincerest prayer and desire that this will be a special blessing for you. As always, do feel free to share with folks you feel would like it.
