The Time of Your Life...
The realization that one has
reached the age of "retirement" calls forth all kinds of questions. What now? Did I do what I came here to do? What about all of the things I have not yet done? Is time running out?
Over the past year, a number of things happened that I thought were random...or maybe coincidental.
Circumstances and conditions changed, and were such that I could not even find any time to control. In Truth, God was and always has been in control.
I, not realizing this, tried harder and stretched myself farther. The joy in my daily life slowly lost its' luster. Enthusiasm waned.Health challenges manifested.
There's an old Unity saying, "If you don't do something, God will." My "old" way of being was working day and night to get it all done. Then, in prayer one day, I was stricken with the realization that this was the way of the world, not God's way. In Truth, it is not all mine to do, and trying to do it all is not working.
Our lives are not only gifts from God, they are gifts we are meant to share through love and service, using our talents in blessing the greater whole. This is the "Plan." When we are on our path according to the plan, we are happy. Even if it requires much time, effort and energy. When we are not on the path, no matter how hard we work or struggle, it just does not work.
The greatest part of this is that you do not need to wait for "retirement age." Get in touch with what you love to do, and DO IT!
Spend time in communion with God through prayer and meditation, and you will find Divine Nature stirs and pushes to express. Nothing less will do. And it is more wonderful than we can imagine.
This IS the time of your life! If what you are doing is not working for you, why are you working at it? Maybe it's time for a heart-to-heart with God.
While the "magic day" has not yet arrived when I can leave the workaday world, my plans are in the works. I will be ready when it comes.
What will I be doing? I will be serving through the church and beyond. I will be preaching, and teaching, and praying, and writing. I will be ministering, coaching and counseling; I will be spending precious moments with my family. Hopefully I will also be traveling, and doing some of these things also.
That may sound like work to you, but to me it is my joyful, Divine Destiny!
Now...go to YOUR destiny!
