A Time for Blessed Reflection
Blessings to You!
Winter Church
Here in New England we are tucked in for the duration of the winter storm that is raging all around us. Some folks may feel inconvenienced by this...after all...so many stores are having "After Christmas Sales." But the "best deal" of all is to stop, reflect, and consider the year we are leaving behind, so that we can reap the wisdom of our past thoughts, words and feelings, and look forward to a great new year. Want to know more? Read on!

Sirach 6:37
Reflect on the statutes of the Lord, and meditate at all times on his commandments.
It is he who will give insight to your mind, and your desire for wisdom will be granted.

Unity Wisdom
"There are two ways of getting understanding. One is by following the guidance of Spirit that dwells within, the other is to go blindly ahead and learn by hard experience."

"Whoever has felt the pinch of conscience has been spoken to by the Holy Spirit. Whoever has sat at the feet of his own inner convictions has been aware of God's presence."
Blessed Reflection...A Guide
Journaling
The goal of Blessed Reflection, is to take the time to ponder the working of the Law of Cause and Effect, sometimes called Karmic Law, in our lives. We then can work in harmony with the law to bring change we desire, and reinforce our established positive efforts. We find a point of reference, which would be a particular experience...either positive or negative...and then to look back to the "first cause" that set the event in action, and the ultimate result of sending that cause forward.

A very simple example of this would be a child and their homework. If they do their homework, their grades are better than when they do not do their homework. Doing homework is a causative activity. Good grades are the effect of the cause: homework. See?

In the course of your reflection, look for circumstances that seem to repeat, such as a recurring problem at work or in your relationships, a problem with managing your time, energy, attitude, or personal accountability.

The thought of reflecting on your whole year may seem daunting...but it is easier than you may think. Just grab that calendar or day-timer before you toss it...and turn the pages.

Reflect on the dates and activities that you noted.

Use both your thinking and feeling faculties as you recall the experience.

What kind of feelings resonate to the event, positive or negative?

Does this type of thing happen over and over? Why?

Many people go through life wondering, "Why is this happening to me again?" If they do not take time to for Blessed Reflection, chances are it still will keep happening.

When we take time for Blessed Reflection, we have the opportunity to deal with habitual negative thinking, feeling or action. We have the opportunity to change our minds and change our lives...ultimately changing the world we live in.

You do not need to be snowed in, in the midst of a blizzard to take time for Blessed Reflection. But it does help, as typical distractions are removed.

So...leaving 2010 do you choose to be "one year older and wiser," or just one year older? The choice is yours!
