Blessings to you!
You are probably familiar with that old saying, "Don't think about pink elephants," which, of course brings images of pink elephants rushing into our minds. The same thing is true if we are on a diet and see a television commercial for something oohey gooey chocolate, or crispy, crunchy and salty. Our mind says, "Oh! Gotta' have some of that!" Then we follow the thought to the fridge, cupboard, or wherever we can find something to eat.
We are not alone in this, and there is nothing new...as the Apostle Paul said, "That which I would do, I do not...that which I would not do, that I do!" Those are the times "our mind seems to "have a "mind of its own."
The Law of Attraction, or as Unity calls it The Law of Mind Action, states that the thoughts we hold in mind manifest in our lives. It is about energy: Where the mind goes, energy flows, and manifestation follows.
A great tool for right use of this Spiritual Principle is the imagination. It is the imagination that conjures up the images of the pink elephants, as well as the image and sensation of enjoying that ooey, gooey chocolate or crispy, crunchy, salty treat.
The imagination, like any other tool, can function positively or negatively. We can manifest negative experiences as well as positive ones. To maximize the magnetic power of imagination to bring good, we can learn to take the driver's seat when our imagination takes off 'on its own," and brings our thoughts where we do not want to go.
The trick, is to give your imagination something else to work on. This may take practice, especially if you have not used a lot of self-discipline in your life. Our mind functions with amazing speed and often without a "driver behind the wheel." It's time to take control!
Let's say you have an appointment at the dentist. You have the option of imagining drilling and filling and picking and pain, or you can put your imagination to work seeing yourself walking out of the office when you are done, smiling confidently and knowing your teeth are in great shape and will serve you for your lifetime.
What is it that you may be conjuring up negative images of? How can you put your imagination to work in a positive way? I can promise you THIS WORKS! But you'll never know unless you try it for yourself. In the Bible, God says "Prove thou me now!" These wonderful principles; spiritual laws, work when we work them.
