Exciting News from the Beasley Family
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello Friends and Family...
Julie and I are thrilled that God is using us as embedded missionaries in the Auburn/Opelika area.  We are learning more and more each day what it means to be planted deeply into our city.  We are continuing to build influence through our network of leaders.
Our next push will be to train other people to view themselves as living on mission and to embed themselves into their neighborhoods, workplaces and social networks for the sole purpose of building relationships through which they can lead people to Christ.
Julie and I have prayed diligently for opportunities for us to plant ourselves more deeply into our culture as well.  We have been presented with a wonderful opportunity to start a small business which will help provide financial resources for us to continue our mission in Auburn/Opelika and allow us to be embedded in the business community.
It seems that God has opened the doors for us to start a small furniture and home decor consignment store.  We will sell gently used furniture and decor for consignors who will split the profit of the sale with us.  In addition, we will be involved in education and strategies for helping people live on less so that they can give more time, energy and resources to the things in life that really matter.
This business is not in addition to our ministry in Auburn and Opelika, it is part of our mission here.  Although it will be a for-profit venture, the sole purpose is to continue to build relationships that will lead to introducing Jesus to others.  We believe that our culture and economic conditions will force ministries to think more creatively and to view the church as "out there" rather than "in here".  This type of ministry will best be resourced by leaders who work in "regular" jobs for the purpose of creating opportunities to share Jesus.
As we move forward in this decision, we ask you to pray diligently for wisdom and direction for us.  We will continue serving CONVERGE and our directional board has affirmed this decision.  They view this as a community effort and an important part of our missional strategy for ministry in Auburn/Opelika.  I am proud of their willingness to think outside the box!
We also ask you to help.  You will hear more about our strategy.  Our business model is a win-win-win for consignors, sellers and us as shop owners.  We will also host a blog and website for people to share and learn about living on less so that we can all give more.  I hope you stay fully connected to the website and if you are local, that we can work together to see this new direction succeed.
We are so thankful for God's people who have supported us in following God and we look so forward to all that lies ahead!
In His service!
Kevin and Julie
