Yippee!
Thank you Twirl friends!

For the second year running, Twirl was voted "Best Place for Kids to Have Fun in Taos" in the Taos News' Annual "Best of" Awards. We feel so lucky to have Twirl and to be able to do all that we do, and we know it wouldn't be possible without your ongoing support, so thank you sincerely. It's that time of year when we get lots of visitors from all over the country and beyond, and we still love to see the reaction from first-time visitors. It's great to be reminded how special and unique Twirl really is - and that it's here in Taos! There's a lot you can do to spread the word and help us grow the Twirl community - forward our newsletter to a friend, write a review on a travel forum like Tripadvisor or Yelp (preferably a nice one!), or friend us on Facebook.

Thank you also to everyone who voted for us in the Kaboom contest to win an Imagination Playground. We realize that there were some technical issues on their website resulting in a less-than-smooth user experience, so we particularly appreciate the valuable time that you gave in support of our application. We'll let you know if we were successful.

Thanks all for making our first Ice-Cream Sunday a fun and successful day. Next one will take place on Sunday July 11, which also happens to be World Cup Final Day. Forget the fact that the U.S. won't be competing and have some super special summer fun at Twirl instead. We'll have chalks out for colorful sidewalk painting, free ice-cream for all, and our groovy button bar for you to design and make your own buttons! Plus, you can submit any of your designs to our Button of the Month competition - the winner will win a Fishcake button collection plus their winning design will be made by us and sold in the store! That's not all - we'll be getting our t-shirt press up and running soon and we're very excited about it. More details on that to follow.

On Monday July 12, we have a very cool workshop taking place at Twirl from 10-1pm  Conducted by Rosairo Carelli, West African Drumming and Shekere Making is a 3 hour workshop introducing children of all ages to the art of African drumming and the chance to make their own beautiful shekere. $10 per child Call Twirl to register. Check out Rosario's story at www.wearethedrum.com.

Upstairs at Twirl, we have our Story of Toys exhibition featuring over a hundred old toys from 1900 -2000, with fun facts about each one. It's more for big kids than little ones, although everyone will get a kick out of it, so come check it out - it's pretty funny to reminisce. We have a huge box of Mr Potato Head parts for kids to assemble as well as all our usual toys which are available to.play with at any time, providing there are no classes taking place.

Finally, just a reminder that the inner courtyard is available to rent for private parties along with our upstairs room. It's a lovely spot for a summer birthday - call Angela at 751 1402 or see our website if you have one coming up. On the subject of birthdays, we have new treats for any child in our birthday club, so keep an eye out for birthday greeting emails.

Happy 4th of July everyone!
