Hello twirl friend!
With March 1st bringing both sunshine and snow, it's hard to predict whether we're heading for a lamb or lion finish to this winter. One thing's for sure, despite the current flurries, there's definitely a feeling of spring in the air at twirl. It could just be that we're over snow-shovelling and look forward to bringing the Mushroom and Dragon out of hibernation; it might be because we're in full spring clean mode, moving things around and generally sprucing up the store, ready to unveil our new-found goodies. Magnetic is the buzz word around here right now. Magnetic car stickers, bracelets, locker and fridge art, you name it, we've got them. Let's just say we find them very attractive. Other favorites include hand painted Momiji message dolls (spread the love); Wish Walls from those clever Cardboad Design people (with cardboard Slinkies coming soon); colorful Aquablock mini aquariums with a choice of frog or betafish (arguably, the easiest pet you'll ever own); and Tweet Tweet Homes, the cutest little build-your-own birdhouses (make some new friends this spring).
Toy Play Day
rockeet ship

Every last Friday of the month, we will be hosting a Toy Play Day at twirl between 3pm - 5pm. Come hang out with friends and put your hands and mind to work, helping us put together a brand new toy straight out of its box. On Friday March 26th, we will be assembling and decorating a groovy Cardboard Design toy and one lucky child will get to take it home with them.

Events In & Around Taos
The snow's not over yet, great news for all of the end of season activities taking place in Taos and the surrounding ski areas. This month, you can: watch some of the best extreme skiers and snowboarders tackle the world-famous peaks of the TSV, March 11-13; welcome Spring Break "New Mexico style" at Angel's Fire's Fiesta del Sol Spring Break Weekend, March 13-14; put on your tank tops and hula skirts and zip down the slopes for the Red River Beach Week, March 13-20; enjoy the fireworks and torchlit parade at Ernie Blake's Birthday Celebration at the TSV, March 20th; or take in the fun and crazy spectacle that is the Sipapu Cardboad Derby, also March 20th. Down in town, things get a little mellower with Equinox, a joint program of music and dance by the Taos Chamber Society and the lovely Amber Vasquez, at the TCA, March 21st; plus don't forget the Harwood's ongoing Family Play Date every Sunday 1-4pm, and their Teen Wearable Art workshops on Fridays at 5.30pm, both free

The nature/nurture question is one we've all pondered watching our kids grow. It's also the question posed by BABIES, a beautiful and heart-warming documentarty film following the lives of four infants growing up in four drastically different places. This delighful trailer sets the scene for an exploration of humanity's universal experience within the unique. You can almost hear the words "Mine, mine!" in the opening montage. The film is scheduled for release on April 16, 2010.
