The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR) recently announced it's acceptance of the Deer Creek Watershed Management Plan.  Now that the Deer Creek Watershed Management Plan has been accepted by both MoDNR and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Deer Creek Watershed Alliance will be seeking ratification of the plan from the municipalities in the watershed.  In addition, the plan will be reviewed annually and updated as new information becomes available and new priorities are identified.

De-Icing Tips for Winter Weather

During winter months, many streams have chloride levels exceeding the EPA's water quality criteria.  Chloride found in streams originates from a number of sources.  In addition to road deicing, salt is also used to deice driveways, parking lots, and walkways by many individuals as well as private and public organizations. Visit our website for a list of de-icing tips to reduce the amount of chloride ending up in our streams during winter weather.
The Deer Creek Watershed Alliance is a project of Missouri Botanical Garden and is funded by project partners, the Mabel Dorn Reeder Foundation, and US EPA Region 7 through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (subgrant number G11 NPS-15), under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act.
