7 Newly Installed Rain Gardens in U. City!

In October 2010, seven demonstration rain gardens were installed in University City.  The University City demonstration rain garden project is the first of three demonstration sites to be installed by Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District in the Deer Creek Watershed, and is a joint effort of a team of Deer Creek Watershed Alliance Partners.  Visit our demonstration projects page to learn more about this project and it's partners.

A Residential Rain Garden Oasis

Near the Headwaters of Black Creek

A couple near the headwaters of Black Creek, a tributary to Deer Creek, has transformed their front and back yards to hold back, store, and slowly release 90% of annual rainfall events that would otherwise contribute to watershed flooding, erosion, and water quality issues during wet weather conditions.

Visit our website to view the slideshow and learn more about how this suburbanite couple changed their home and surroundings to benefit the watershed.
