Psalm 78:5

5 He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
to teach their children,

God commanded that the stories of his mighty acts in Israel's history-and his laws-be passed on from parents to children. This shows the purpose and importance of religious education: to help each generation obey God and set its hope on him. It is important to keep children from repeating the same mistakes as their ancestors. What are you doing to pass on the history of God's work to the next generation?

John 1:14-18

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, "This is the one I spoke about when I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'")16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God andt is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

So the God that created the universe limited himself to become flesh - to become a man.  He was both fully man and fully God according to Christian understanding.  Yet, he clearly experienced all that a man experiences except he did not sin.  He suffered humiliation and torture to make a way for us to be right with God again.  He is the author of a love that we cannot understand but we can experience.  He knit you in your mother's womb.  He knows every hair on your head (in my case those that used to be :0(  ).  All he wants is for you to love Him back.  How?  Just decide you want to.  Tell Him you want to.  Let Him do the rest.  He doesn't usually speak out loud - He speaks to your heart through people, through circumstances, through the Bible.  Do it every morning.  Life after accepting Jesus isn't easier, but it is so much better!
