30 Our children will also serve him. Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord.31 His righteous acts will be told to those not yet born. They will hear about everything he has done.If we want our children to serve the Lord, they must hear about him from us. It is not enough to rely on the church or those with more knowledge to provide all their Christian education. We must reinforce the lessons of the Bible in our homes. Luke 22:35 35 Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?"
"Nothing," they answered. 36 He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.37 It is written: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment." 38 The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords."
"That's enough!" he replied.
Life has different seasons. The season of Jesus demonstrating His power through miracles was coming to a close. Jesus was about to be beaten, mocked, tortured, humiliated, and crucified. He would not save himself from what He had to do to save us. How confusing this must have been for the disciples. Life is confusing for us sometimes too. The disciples, except for Judas, listened to Jesus and did what He said as best they knew how. That's all he asks of us. His resurrection changed everything. It defeated evil for all time. The torture and crucifixion had to come first.
