Things in the world today are pretty scary.  Prices of everything are going up and our nation is in ever increasing debt.  There seems to be no end to natural and man-made disasters.  Some of my friends and I have been trying to get back to some habits that our previous generations took for granted.  Canning, gardening, long-term food storage.  We are also in a war of ideas in our culture.  Individual liberty with personal salvation versus dependence on our government for "collective salvation."  If you want to learn more about these ideas, reply to this e-mail with your questions.  Remember that God is in charge and He will provide for and protect us according to His will.  I believe that His will for me at this time is to help others prepare for some difficult times ahead.

Remember to pray for those suffering in Japan, for our soldiers, and for all those in such turmoil in the Middle East and Africa.

Jesus loves you and so do I!

Joshua 1:5

5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Joshua's new job consisted of leading more than two million people into a strange new land and conquering it. Every new job is a challenge. Without God it can be frightening. With God it can be a great adventure. Just as God was with Joshua, he is with us as we face our new challenges. We may not conquer nations, but every day we face tough situations, difficult people, and temptations. God promises, however, that he will never abandon us nor fail to help us. By asking God to direct us we can conquer many of life's challenges.

I chose Joshua for my confirmation name as a 13yo Roman Catholic.  It was an unusual name at the time and I took some ribbing from the other kids for it.  My reason for choosing the name, I thought, was because the Joshua on that movie "The Ten Commandments" was cool.  He saved an old lady from being crushed by a pyramid stone and he had a real pretty girlfriend.  Little did I know how symbolic the name would become for me.  It was around the birth of my oldest son, Joshua, that I came to surrender my life to Jesus.  Joshua is the Hebrew for the name Jesus (Jesus is the Greek).  The meaning of the name is "salvation."
One of these days I'll have to write out the story of my salvation.  If you want to hear that story, shoot me an e-mail to remind me to get it onto a link.

 1 Peter 2:4-10

4 As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him-5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  6 For in Scripture it says:
"See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame."

7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,"

8 and, "A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall."They stumble because they disobey the message-which is also what they were destined for.

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

The cornerstone of a building is the stone that the whole building is supported by and it is the foundation.  Is Jesus your foundation?  Does your whole life rest on Him?  He is the alpha and the omega.  He is the meaning of Life.  He is the Way and the Truth and the Life.  Nothing in life is more important than letting Him BE in us and live through us.  Please Lord, help me to remember to surrender to you each moment.

Lighthouse Wesleyan Church has service at 9 am and 10:45 this Sunday.  I'd love to see you there!

Anyone interested in organizing a 9/12 Project or TEA party in our area, please contact me.  I have interest and ideas but no time.  We are in a scary time and must get back to God first but we need to understand and support our country as it was originally founded.

Anyone interested in Food Storage, I have some great resources and have lots of food grade buckets I got a great deal on.  Shoot me a reply if interested.
