Matthew 5:13-16 NIV "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. (14) "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (16) In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Red letters are the words of Jesus in some Bibles. Don't depend on me to be consistent, though :0) Salt brings out flavor, and, especially in those days without refrigeration, it preserved food. We Christians are called by Jesus to be different than those around us. We are called to bring the flavor that God intended for His children out of them. And we are called to be used to preserve (save?) them from rotting. Jesus is willing to live inside us and work through us if we ask Him to. He is the light in our dark world and we are the lightbulbs. Our will is the light switch. Jesus will shine through you and light up this dark world if you will flip the switch to ON! |
