Luke 21: 29-36 NIV He told them this parable: "Look at the fig tree and all the trees. (30) When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. (31) Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near. (32) "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. This is confusing because in one place Jesus says He doesn't know when the end of the world will be, but here He says that all these things will happen during "this generation." This kind of "conflict" is used by some to say that the Bible can't be true or real. Remember that the Bible was written in an entirely different time and culture than ours. But, that doesn't mean it's not written for us. Supposed conflicts can mostly be cleared up when the words are studied in the original language and put into the proper historical context. Don't get hung up on the stuff that isn't clear. Let the Holy Spirit "teach" you what you need for today. There's plenty in God's Word that is crystal clear. God will clear up the rest as he leads us. (33) Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (34) "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. (35) For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. (36) Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man." Our daily struggle is to live within God's Kingdom of Loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and loving our neighbors. The kindgom of this world is always waiting to distract and tempt us to serve ourselves. "Seek pleasure, avoid pain, whoever dies with the most toys wins!" is the motto of this world. I get sucked into "the anxieties of life" just like anyone else. But Jesus is always there with me, ready to take the wheel as soon as I let go. Let go right now and let Him drive! He loves you and so do I.
