Live according to the Spirit not according to the desires of the flesh.  Paul says that somewhere, but I don't feel like looking it up right now.  That feeling of excitement I get just before I start eating my pizza - or just before the alcoholic takes a drink, is a desire of the flesh.  I'm trying to recognize that feeling of temptation and remember that I don't have to listen to it.  I'm asking God to help me live according to His Spirit, not my flesh.  You and He and I all know I don't need that handful of chocolate covered raisins!

Luke 20:41-47 NIV
Luke 20:41-47 NIV  Then Jesus said to them, "How is it that they say the Christ is the Son of David? (42)  David himself declares in the Book of Psalms: "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand (43)  until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."' (44)  David calls him 'Lord.' How then can he be his son?"

The Pharisees and Saduccees expected the Messiah to be a solely human leader - though one with God's favor and the ability to wield His power.  They were clueless about the fact that Jesus is God and man in one person.

(45)  While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples,  (46)  "Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. (47)  They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."

It's worse to act like you're good and are secretly evil than just being obviously evil.  I'm wondering how I'm doing wrong and pretending to do right.  Think about it.  Ask His forgiveness.  Serve Him, not yourself, today.

                   Praises and Answers
I praise God for the accountability group of Vaughn, Doug, and myself that He arranged for us.  Men need vital relationships with other Christian men.  This is so cool when it happens.

Eilleen's time of feeling far from God is over!  She's having some intense quiet time in His presence.  Hallelujah!

James 4:10 NIV  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
