Wassup? Went for a walk in the sun this morning and tried to listen to God. That warm sun is so bright that when I looked at it with my eyes closed it was still too bright - I had to look away. I pray that you let God's light warm you and brighten up your day today. - dr joe

Luke 20:27-40 NIV
Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus
with a question.
(Sadducees were the group of Jewish leaders who were of the priestly class
and were wealthy. They enjoyed the privileges
afforded to them as leaders of the Jews.
The Romans basically let them do whatever, as long as they kept the people
from rebellion against Roman occupation.
Jesus claiming to be the Messiah - the King who would rule the world -
was definitely a threat to the Romans and therefore a threat to the Sadducees
way of life.)
(28) "Teacher," they said, "Moses
wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children,
the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. (29) Now there were seven brothers. The first one
married a woman and died childless. (30) The
second (31) and then the third married her, and in the
same way the seven died, leaving no children.
(32)
Finally, the woman died too. (33) Now then,
at the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to
her?" (34) Jesus replied, "The
people of this age (He uses age here as the present culture or earthly state as
opposed to when Jesus makes everything right in the end or the spiritual or
heavenly state or time.) marry and are given in
marriage. (35) But those who are
considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the
dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, (36) and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels.
They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection. (37) But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the
dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and
the God of Jacob.' (38) He is not the God of
the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive." (39) Some of the
teachers of the law responded, "Well said, teacher!" (40) And no one dared to ask him any more
questions. (Jesus wants us to ask Him questions, but if you do, don't forget to get in a quiet place with Him and listen for answers.)
Neither the Jews nor the Romans understood that Jesus was describing a
different kind of kingdom. We can hardly
even relate to the term because we think of kings as tyrants. We value individual rights that we feel are
given to us by God, yet many worship not God but the rights themselves. Jesus wants us to belong to His Kingdom by
letting the Holy Spirit connect us in love to Him and to the rest of His
children.

Praises and Answers I praise God for the accountability group of Vaughn, Doug, and myself that He arranged for us. Men need vital relationships with other Christian men. This is so cool when it happens.
