Dear Friends of Challenge Air,                      March 2011

Challenge Air for Kids and Friends has had an exciting first quarter in 2011. On January 29th, we celebrated our 16th year in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Over 30 pilots welcomed over 120 kids in the air with support from Banyan Air Service. Long time Board member and friend of Rick Amber, Jeff Shaffner served as the event chair. Jeff and his committee raised over $18,000 to support the Fly Day. Despite a flat tire on the runway and a very busy Saturday in the air, lives were changed that day. The spirit of Rick Amber lived on in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Special thanks to Banyan Air Service and their staff for making the day so special.

Although the economic downturn has hurt Challenge Air the past few years, I am happy to report we were once again blessed with a $20,000 gift from the Meyer Levy Charitable Foundation in Austin, Texas in February. Thank you again to all the year-end donors who helped make this matching gift possible.

March rang in with our 17th Annual Challenge Air Gala. Over 150 friends and family members enjoyed pre-dinner music provided by young new artist, Preston Culver. The outstanding cuisine

was dished up by Dallas Addison Catering and the evening's program was dazzled by personal remarks from parents Lamarque Polvado and Peggy & John Nelson.

Lamarque inspired us to dream and to believe we can change the world by making a difference. John & Peggy shared their story through heartfelt words on how Challenge Air changed their son's life. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Challenge Air is blessed with the love and support of so many people across the country. It's been a tough few years both financially and organizationally, but I will make a promise to each and every one of you.....Challenge Air is on its way back. The CA Board of Trustees and staff are working hard every day to raise more money, update pilot manuals, provide better support at the local level and provide more efficient and safer Fly Days. We are dedicated to seeing more kids benefit from flight by finding a new sense of freedom in doing something they never dreamed of doing.

You are a part of the challenge air team. Your dedication and support make a difference. Please visit our website and sign up to volunteer or make an online donation. Thank you for continuing to believe in the mission of Challenge Air!

Blessings,
