Chicago & Cook County Building and Construction Trades Council (CBTC) Celebrates 100 Years
The Chicago & Cook County Building and Construction Trades Council (CBTC) recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. A special event was held on August 7th at Navy Pier's Grand Ballroom. The CBTC represents over 100,000 union employees in the Chicagoland area. Over twenty trades are members of the Council. The Council is active in securing not only labor stability but works with various public entities to secure Project Labor Agreements (PLAs). As you are aware, the Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) is a member of the Construction Employers' Association (CEA). The CEA and the CBTC work together with the Joint Conference Board (JCB). The JCB was created by agreement between these two organizations for the purpose of resolving jurisdictional disputes which may arise involving other trade unions affiliated with the CBTC. Congratulations to Thomas Villanova, President and Frank O'Lone, Secretary-Treasurer on their continued efforts in promoting stability in union construction.
