SOUL WHISPERS: Taking Five to Live Your Life
The Hearts of Cathy Cason Davis
This series (also available in newsletter) is to help us all to find those brief and spontaneous moments throughout the day to find messages in everything around us. How does your inner still voice within speak to you, guide you or assist you in making the best decision for you? If you are a person of faith, how does your Higher Power, God, Spirit Guides give you the guidance you need?
As we use nature and even frustrations, there are lessons being taught many times a day, but we have to "get online" to those soul whispers.
Here is an example of how it has worked for one person.
Cathy Davis has always loved hearts. She has decorated with them for years, but one day, a couple of years ago...after her home was destroyed in the devastating floods in Nashville, Cathy began to notice the soul whispers.
One morning, while preparing her second cup of coffee, she picked up the spoon she had used for the first cup and found a perfectly shaped heart in the saucer. She smiled and noticed the coincident. Over the course of the last two years, Cathy has found hearts everywhere...leaves that have fallen off the trees, rocks that she stumbles across, unintended heart shapes in sidewalks and more. She has become mindful of her surroundings and not only has she grown to notice how prevalent they are, she also finds these unexpected "soul messages" have become a spiritual practice. Upon finding another heart in nature or even a sliver of soap at the drain of the shower, she ponders whether she has acted in a loving spirit on that day, how could she have been kinder or more present for someone, whether she has been grateful and appreciative. On those days that she doesn't believe she is living in alignment, she does what she can to make it right.
Cathy's outwardly simply, yet very powerful symbol helps to keep her in alignment with her other spiritual beliefs. We need a "practice" to remind us to live in alignment with whatever we hold dear. What is yours?

The Heroes Journey: The Overview
Since many of you are new to The Heroic Journal, we sometimes like to rerun a previous article that may be relevent. Reg Harris has written one of the best and most understandable overview for those who are new to the framework. Since the Journey framework can be found worldwide, in every major culture and every religious tradition, this information may be translated into the language which is most honorable and respectable to what you hold dear.
