Nexus wags the times.

We recently completed the redesign of Rancho Coastal Humane Society's bi-annual publication. The Encinitas facility serves the entire San Diego area and this year marks their 50th anniversary of helping animals in need and the people that love them.

Rancho Coastal commissioned Nexus to redesign its newsletter to better update the community with current articles of interest, activities and foundation events. It was mailed to the society's subscription base and is available as a downloadable .pdf file from their website here.

Nexus redesigned the publication from scratch including a new masthead, a clean, open layout and mixed typeface which allows for creative, easy to read presentation of news and editorial articles.

"Nexus Design+Marketing did a wonderful job of re-launching our newsletter on a non-profit budget and in a limited amount of time," said President Jim Silveira. "For us, this year marks 50 years of serving the animals and people in need in San Diego County and it was time for us to redesign one of our key communication tools to match the caliber of organization that we have become. The team at Nexus helped us to maximize our branding and convey our message, all while still making a very tight timeline. We appreciate all the support they have given to us and the animals we assist."

Newsletters and direct mail pieces play a big part in many companies and foundations marketing efforts. Whether the newsletters are printed, sent as an eblast or available online, they allow you to connect with your customers and prospects on an ongoing basis, increase sales through cross-sell efforts or increase event participation. They're also a good tool for larger companies to connect with employees and field representatives.

Content is key to a good newsletter and readers should be given relevant, timely and unique information about what's going on in the company and what's coming up. It's an excellent fundraising tool for worthwhile causes like the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.  We've designed newsletters and eblasts for many companies which includes printed four panel pieces and multi-page books to eblasts and web applications. Just another way to get the word out there about your company and services.

Contrary to public opinion, you are not contributing to global warming by producing a printed piece. Trees are harvested for paper manufacturing and paper companies have been the leading industry in the "greening" up of their operations, offering recycled products for decades. There are even statistics that show that electronic communication can be more harmful to the environment than printed ones.
