OCTOBER 2009

Nexus designs Happenings quarterly
Summer issue kicked off new, updated look

We recently completed the redesign of Seacrest Village Communities quarterly publication, "Happenings."

Seacrest commissioned Nexus to redesign its magazine to better update its residents and donors with current articles of interest, activities and foundation events. It was mailed to Seacrest's subscription base and is available as a downloadable .pdf file from their website.

Craig Calsbeek states "Starting with a new masthead, we set out to visually open up the regular columns for better legibility and allow for creative presentation of editorial articles. Each issue will be seasonally themed."

Seacrest Village Communities are located in Encinitas and Rancho Bernardo, California.

The times they are a changin'.

Where are you allocating your marketing dollars? The paradigm has changed. The traditional print mediums of brochures, direct mail, ads and billboards have been augmented with an internet and Web 2.0 presence.

First it was the use of the world wide web, which evolved into social marketing with Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, to name a few. When Ritz Crackers, Home Depot and hundreds of corporations tweet and have huge followings on Facebook, you know the medium has caught on as a marketing and advertising avenue.

Facebook welcomed its 200 millionth active user in April 2009. Twitter had over 146 million visits in August -- three times the number that visited in January 2009.

Facebook and Tweet leaders have emerged in just about every realm of the corporate world including automotive, travel, sports teams, entertainment, retail, and the food and beverage industry. To stay competitive, companies are reaping the benefits of connecting with their customers on a much more personal level using social media.
