Form Strategic Alliance for 2010

Two of Southern California's top karting organizations have joined forces to offer club racers an unmatched kart club for 2010. The strategic alliance between Tri-C Karters and the EP1K Sprint Series will form a single, stronger club.

Tri-C club races will be held at the CalSpeed Karting Center in Fontana, which features four challenging course configurations.  In addition, the Tri-C/EP1K series will host the first-ever night race at CalSpeed in August. Several other innovative enhancements are planned for the upcoming season and will be announced shortly.

"Two of Southern California's top karting organizations have joined forces to offer club racers an unmatched kart club for 2010," said Chris Sarris, President of Tri-C Karters. "The coalition of Tri-C Karters and the EP1K Sprint Series will form a single, stronger club featuring deeper fields, increased track time and an overall enhanced racing experience."

"This merger is more like a partnership," said Rob Niles, President of EP1K ProMotion. "It's the union of two great organizations that each bring a deep skill set that is complimentary to the other. As such, I'm confident it's a win-win-win for Tri-C, EP1K, and most importantly, the racers."

The nine-race season will kick-off February 6 on CalSpeed's Nuovo circuit. The series features 12 classes divided among 8 run groups and will run on a time-certain schedule. Sticking to a published minute-by-minute race day schedule is a top priority of both Tri-C and EP1K in order to provide each run group with 60 minutes of track time in an efficient 9-hour race day.

Membership in Tri-C Karters comes with several benefits and perks, these include racing for Championship Points, eligibility for the season ending Championship Banquet as well as discounts at CalSpeed's Friday practices before the Tri-C Races!

New Race Format and Points Structure

Races will consist of two heat races and a main.

The qualifing will determine grid position in the first heat race.  The finish position on the first heat race determines grid position for the second heat and second heat finish determines the grid for the main race.

Year end Championship Points will be awarded for finishes in each heat race and for the Main Race.  In addition the fastest qualifier and the fastest race lap in the Main Race will be awarded bonus points.  Trophies will be awarded for finishes in the main race per IKF rules.
