Great coaches give their players a game plan based on their
strengths and ability to adjust to their situation. I want to pass on
some wisdom from someone I consider a great marriage and relationship coach: Michele Weiner-Davis...Her optimistic and no-nonsense approach is counter to
much modern therapy, and yet has saved many marriages.
Last month, I
shared nuggets of truth from her book The Divorce Buster. The following are even more winning plays from Michele's wise game plan:

Why Visiting the In-laws for the Holidays is not Always Merry! By Noel Meador

Eat Better, Eat Together As a Family By Krista Fogelson
Last week, as I flipped through the TV stations, I landed on a
public service announcement by actress Jamie Lee Curtis. She shared
that one of the most effective ways to prevent teen drug and alcohol
abuse was....lasagna! Lasagna? Turns out, this delicious comfort food
represented family meals. According to a September 2009 survey by the
Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA), teens aged 12-17 who
ate together with their parents at least 5 times a week, had a closer
relationship with their parents, felt it easier to talk to their
parents, and were likelier to attend religious services. These three
items contributed to a decrease in drug and alcohol abuse, promoted
better grades in school.
I recently discovered that October is Eat Better, Eat Together
Month. This affords the perfect opportunity to offer ways you can
start eating meals together...as a family!
