Kids Got Talent Winners!
1st Place Winner
Rae Srivastava

Center Stage Texas hosted the first annual Kids Got Talent competition in January. In the end, Rae Srivastava,13, won the $10,000 college scholarship with a whirlwind tap dance routine. Impressive original songwriter and singer Laura Austin,17, took second place and Gabriela de la Rosa,17, earned third with a beautiful rendition of "Maybe This Time" from Cabaret. Though the top three earned scholarships, America's Got Talent Producers requested videos of the top ten finalists to be a part of the reality TV 7th season competition!  (Remember 9 year old Lilah Guaragna from our December newsletter?  She was also one of the 22 finalists!)

2nd Place Winner Laura Austin
Approximately 400 guests attended the event. They not only watched the Center Stage Texas' students and the twenty-two finalists perform, they also voted on the act that they thought should take home the prize. Judges (including Ballet Austin's Paul Michael Bloodgood; Franchelle Dorn, The Virginia L. Murchison Regents Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Texas at Austin; Emmy Award-winning casting director, Beth Sepko; Kaitlin Hopkins, Award-winning actor on Broadway & Head of the Texas State Musical Theater program; video game and movie music Composer, George Oldziey; and Christopher D'Amboise, director, choreographer and performer on Broadway) weighed in and helped in choosing the finalists.
3rd Place Winner Gabriela de la Rosa

Thanks to event sponsors and guests, Kids Got Talent raised over $50,000 that will directly impact that lives of students in Austin. Center Stage Texas programming provides free theatre, dance and visual art classes for low income families in East Austin. For more information, please visit www.centerstagetexas.com.

Performers, gala guests, and the professionals involved call the night a total success and the gala has also been described as taking Center Stage Texas "to the next level."

That's right: it's time to heat up  your winter nights again, with the 19th season of FronteraFest at Hyde Park Theatre. The Short Fringe, the Long Fringe, BYOV, or Mi Casa--as always and ever, FronteraFest is five weeks of alternative, offbeat, new, and just plain off-the-wall fringe theatre. Too bad there's no actual way to expect the unexpected, because that is your only hope.

Not all content is suitible for children.  Please contact the producer if you are interested in bringing your child to this festival.
