Hey, Kids!  Listen Up!  Yes, you!  It's time to polish those tap shoes, warm up those vocal cords, and tune that trombone, ukulele, or unicycle!  "Why," you ask?  Because the team at kidsActing is hosting a major two-part event to benefit our non-profit sister organization, Center Stage Texas!

We know that kidsActing students are among the most talented in town, and we want YOU and all of your super-skilled friends to be there to "represent."  Do you know a kid who can sing like an angel? Juggle like a jester?  Dance like a dervish? Play accordion medleys like a young Weird Al Yankovic?

Well, there's a new regional talent competition designed just for you and all the wildly talented kids like you to strut your stuff... Any and all acts are welcome, and the top prize is a $10,000 college scholarship!

It's called KIDS GOT TALENT and it's open to any kid aged 8 - 18 in the greater Austin area.  Here are the steps to take to see your name in lights:

STEP ONE.  Pre-register today for the auditions on October 16th or October 23rd by visiting www.centerstagetexas.com or coming by Center Stage Texas (2826 Real Street) to get an application packet.

STEP TWO.  Practice, practice, practice!

STEP THREE.  Show up for your assigned first-round time-slot  and wow the judges' panel of professional performing artists!

The acts chosen as finalists will be invited to perform for 400 attendees and celebrity judges at the Center Stage Texas Gala on January 21, 2012 at the Westin Domain, so mark your calendars now... Delicious food, delightful entertainment-- and the top three acts will be awarded scholarships!

Even more important than the glamour and excitement of the final event, Kids Got Talent offers an educational opportunity for kids who are interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts. Every kid that auditions will be given a copy of their audition tape, along with constructive comments from the judges.

Come on, you know you've got a shot!  So take a leap and sign up today  - we can't wait to see you there!

Free Outdoor Concert

Laguna Gloria

October 6, 2011

Laguna Gloria's amphitheatre is a great place for live music. And to celebrate that, the museum is hosting a free concert Thursday night featuring the ever-creative Austin band, Mother Falcon.

The ambitious orchestral pop collective Mother Falcon is an ever-shifting flock of 15 to 20 young, classically trained musicians led by Nick Gregg. With its large string section, the band merges the instruments and sounds of chamber music with plenty of pop and indie rock sensibilities.

Admission is free and first-come, first-seated. Pack a blanket and a picnic.

Green Corn Project
Boggy Creek Farm

Sunday, October 30 12-3pm

The Green Corn Project's annual sip and stroll tasting on the shady grounds of the historic Boggy Creek Farm features delectable local foods and beverages prepared by some of Austin's most talented locavore chefs. Enjoy cooking demonstrations on the back porch and live music in the front yard. The party raises funds to support a grassroots, all-volunteer nonprofit that assists Central Texans in growing organic food gardens.
