Hamlet
Lit by torchlight, and respectfully performed in the green space of the cemetery, adjacent to the graveyard, this Hamlet promises to be an unforgettable event.
This Hamlet is a production originally staged for Scottish Rite Theatre, and hailed by critics as, "keen, intelligent, entertaining and gripping" further saying, "Go. Go twice." kidsActing teacher, Andrew Matthews, directed and stars as Claudius. The role of Ophelia is performed by Julia Lorenz-Olson, wife of our teacher Philip Olson.
Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets or camping chairs to relax on, as they would to an outdoor concert.
A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Boggy Creek Cemetery, and part of the mission of this production is to raise awareness of the deteriorating state of Austin's cemeteries, and their dire need of support.

Letter What?? A fun and free way to enjoy the fall
|
Letterboxing is a fantastic way to spend time outdoors with your family, get some exercise and explore parts of Austin you have never been before. Letterboxing is a combination of treasure hunting, art, navigation, and exploring interesting, scenic, and sometimes remote places.

Take your family on a "treasure hunt" in one of Central Texas' amazing parks or even in downtown Austin! There are water proof boxes hidden in thousands of locations across the US. They contain a logbook and a unique carved rubber stamp. The hider then writes clues to the box and posts them online at www.letterboxing.org. Clues can be straightforward, cryptic, or any degree in between. Selecting a location and writing the clues is one aspect of the art. The other is the hunting! Treasure hunters will of course need some supplies: an ink stamp, ink pad, logbook, and pen. The treasure hunters decipher the clues and go on the hunt for the box! When the hunter successfully deciphers the clue and finds the box, he stamps the logbook in the box with his personal stamp, and stamps his personal logbook with the box's stamp. The box's logbook keeps a record of all its visitors, and the hunters keep a record of all the boxes they have found, in their personal logbooks. Follow these simple steps to find your treasure!
1. Go to www.letterboxing.org to get some more information about letterboxing and find the clues to boxes in your area.
2. Print out the hints to the boxes you want to find.
3. Collect supplies including a stamp, ink pad, logbook and pen. If you would like to create your own unique stamp there are directions on the website.
4. Gather your loved ones, maybe a picnic, and find that treasure!
5. Remind your kids that this is a secret treasure hunt! It adds to the fun and keeps the letterboxes well hidden.
HAPPY HUNTING! |
