Center Stage Texas welcomes our new Director of Development, Sidney Pan!
|
Sidney Pan, CST's Director of Development |
Hi, I am the most recent addition to the staff at Center Stage Texas as the Director of Development and am very excited to serve the mission of such a wonderful organization. I am a graduate of The University of Texas Theater and Dance program. This is my 5th year of a fundraising career that began in Washington, DC and has brought me back to Austin. I live in east Austin with my husband Paul and our two dogs Duke and Grant. I play the guitar, run marathons, serve on the Austin Young Chamber Imagine Committee and I love dessert!
Enough about me, I want to give you an update on the work that we are doing at Center Stage Texas. Starting this fall, CST is increasing programming at Campbell and UT Elementary Schools and continuing classes at the theater for children at True Light Day Care. In addition to our in school and after school classes for Kinder-5th grade students, we are also offering after school visual art and dance classes FOR FREE for their students! CST is also working to begin offering classes at Govalle Elementary and the Alpha Omega Early Childhood Education Development Center this fall.
I tell you all of these things to let you know that your continued support is making a huge impact on students that would most likely not have access to arts in education opportunities otherwise. We are looking forward to serving 900 children in East Austin this year. We are growing at an exponential rate and have you to thank.
There are many ways that you can be involved with CST. If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities or would like to make a contribution, please do not hesitate to contact me at (512) 391-1800 or email sidneydpan@gmail.com or visit us at www.centerstagetexas.com.

Reggae 4 Ability: A Benefit for Bradyn
Four-year-old
Bradyn Ferguson is funny, compassionate, smart, sociable and loves
pets. He also has been struggling to manage his epilepsy since he was 18
months old. Luckily, he's been accepted to receive a service dog from 4 Paws for Ability, a non-profit that trains dogs to help children with a wide range of needs. However, training a puppy for Bradyn is expensive. It costs an average of $22,000 to train and place a dog in a child's home.
"Reggae 4 Ability: A Benefit for Bradyn" is
an afternoon of live music and a silent auction to raise funds to help
him get his new service dog. The benefit will be held on Sept. 18, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Encore, an Austin live music venue. All of the proceeds from the auction and show will go toward Bradyn's cause. The benefit show will feature four extraordinary, regional reggae acts who have generously donated their talents: DJ Ras Gilbert from San Antonio, Eagger from Houston and Axis Unity and The Contrabandits, both from Austin. The silent auction will
feature items from local Austin businesses, signed memorabilia from pop
culture heroes and prints from talented artists such as photographer Trent Sherrill. Free activities for the kids and Food will be available for purchase served by Ital Palace (all proceeds will go to Bradyns family). Suggested donation is $10 cover per person, kids are free.

Ballet Austin's Not Afraid of the Dark The Show that Glows! Paramount Theatre Concept & Music by Joe Scruggs Choreography by Stephen Mills
September 18 www.austintheatre.org
A magical show that is a visual treat for all
ages. Ballet Austin II delights with a production that turns darkness
into a place to laugh, sing, clap, dream, dance and do everything
imaginable - except be afraid. |
The Taming of the Shrew
Emily Ann Theatre
September 10-October 2
Enjoy Shakespeare under the stars in Wimberly. William Shakespeare's great comedy involves a beautiful and gentle
Bianca, who has no shortage of admirers but her father insists that she
will not marry until her shrewish sister, Katharina, is betrothed as
well. Only the wild Petruchio is up for the task, and even that has its
price. The audience is in for a rollercoaster of crazy and hilarious
antics, witty sarcasm, and a bout of wildness that can only be tamed by
true love. |
