Last year's photo competition was such a success that we're running it again. Guests have submitted nearly 100 photos highlighting their experiences at The Canopy, and our photography expert Sharon had the difficult job of selecting five finalists.

You can view the finalists here and vote now, and go in the running to win two free nights at The Canopy. The winner will be announced Christmas Eve, so be quick!

Update on Cassie
Our injured cassowary on the road to recovery

You may recall the story of Cassie, the cassowary chick with the broken leg that was rescued by Sharon and operated on by Wendy our local wildlife vet.

Well Cassie has now fully recovered and her leg is as good as new!

She had been kept in a variety of small enclosures, but the EPA recently transferred her to Hartley's Creek (midway between Cairns and Port Douglas). They have a fenced enclosure of about a hectare so that Cassie can move about and run freely.

She's well on the road to rehabilitation - you can read more about her amazing story here.
