Dear WBE Certifieds and Friends:

JanetHave you ever considered being nominated for an award?  NWBOC often receives requests for nominations and though we reach out to

you, we seldom receive a response.  Awards can be a great public relations and marketing tool.  It adds credibility to your company and to you as the business owner.  Don't think of award seeking as bragging and boasting.  It just makes good business sense.  Even if you don't win, you often meet other nominees and winners who can be beneficial to you and your company!   Watch for those announcements of award programs in our newsletter and e-blasts.   And, be sure to notify us if you are a semifinalist, finalist or winner!  We will proudly add that information to our e-newsletter.

Sincerely,

Janet Harris-Lange, President

Meet Cara Barineau of Blue Marble Media

Blue Marble MediaCara Barineau started Blue Marble Media in 1995 in Atlanta, GA, because she saw an opportunity to bring video production and web development together into one company that specialized in message and image as opposed to technology, because very few existed at that time.

"Certification has helped us land projects with the CDC here in Atlanta and has also benefited us with getting a foot in the door with large corporations who have government obligations to contract with a certain percentage of woman-owned businesses," says Cara.

Cooper Maron Blue Marble Media has also launched Cooper Maron Commissioned Films, a new division working with private individuals to create family history documentaries, tribute films and other types of personal films.

Fast-Track Application for Certification

The NWBOC has added a new "Fast-Track" application for women business owners who are currently WBE certified and want to add another certification.

"If we have evaluated and approved the process for their current third party certification, there is no need for a woman business owner to have to wait or pay a higher fee when there is less work on our behalf to confirm this certification," said Janet Harris Lange, NWBOC President.

We started the Fast-Track application in response to requests from WBEs who wanted a streamlined process. "In these tough economic times, businesses are looking for every edge they can get," said Harris-Lange. "They are getting multiple certifications so no stone is left unturned in the possibilities of the marketplace, whether it is corporate or government."
