- Headsets (Avaya compatible)

If you or someone you know would like to donate these items, call us at 503.413.5541.
Thank you for your support!

Most weeks, we receive some kind of statement of gratitude from the people we have served. Here are a few: "Hopefully one day soon I can pay back for what I received"; "I'm so very thankful"; "I want to move from being a recipient to being a donor to help those who need help like I did"; "I appreciated everyone's care and efforts"; " I will be indebted to Project Access for the rest of my life." I share these statements of gratitude because without the support of our volunteers and funders, we simply could not do what we do. Thank YOU!
As a mother raising two strong and vibrant girls, I often tell them "You get what you give." While this doesn't always yield immediate behavioral results, I have seen over the years that they do understand that what they put out to the world does indeed influence how the world responds to them. Perhaps this seems overly simplistic, but there is truth in the statement. At Project Access NOW we have the honor of existing in the nexus of giving and getting. We are creating a space in the world that gives to those in need and in the giving, everyone "gets". Most importantly, no one does this work alone and sometimes it's hard to tell when we are giving and when we are receiving. I think that is just the way it should be.
My wish for each of you is that during the next few months of the busy-ness of the holidays, you find time to be with those you love, reflect on what you have given and what you have received. Know that your support of Project Access NOW has brought healing and hope to thousands of people in our community.
Thanks so much for all of your support!

Tammy and her daughter have been through the worst nightmare a parent could imagine. Her daughter's father committed suicide, leaving Tammy and her nearly eleven-year-old daughter alone. When she thinks about the "giant" responsibility she now bears to ensure her daughter gets the things she needs as well as the love and support every child should have, it brings tears to her eyes.
Tammy works full time but does not receive health insurance through her employer and cannot afford to buy it. So, when her daughter needed medical attention a couple of years ago, Tammy took her to the Essential Health Clinic in Tigard.
While she was there, Tammy confided to the medical assistant that the suspicious, odd-looking lesion on her own arm was worrying her because Tammy's sister had been diagnosed with melanoma. Though she had first noticed the spot on her arm about seven years earlier, she knew she could never be able to scrape together the money it would take to be seen by a dermatologist so she let it go. Still, it was a frequent source of concern for her.

Board member profile: Marie Napolitano
|
Marie Napolitano has been caring for the indigent, migrant population of Oregon for more than 22 years. Until 2010, she primarily traveled to provide migrant health care in Virginia Garcia Medical Center's mobile health van. In 2010, Marie began to collaborate with Familias en Accion to focus on the comprehensive treatment of diabetic patients.
It so happens that Familias' director of research and development, Marie Dahlstrom, is a Project Access NOW board member. She connected Marie with Project Access NOW's Linda Nilsen-Solares and it was clear to Linda, Marie - and the rest of the board of directors - that Marie would be a valuable addition to the Project Access NOW board.

Thanking Dr. Patton and NW Cancer Specialists
|
Dr. Gregory Patton is a practicing radiation oncologist with Northwest Cancer Specialists at their Rose Quarter location.
Dr. Patton learned of Project Access NOW through his practice's business office and he joins the rest of his partners in seeing, as a group, dozens of Project Access NOW patients a year. Northwest Cancer Specialists has a long tradition of doing what they can to provide care for uninsured patients.
"Project Access NOW fits into an existing theme and dynamic that complements what we've done for a long time. We don't turn people away because they do not have the ability to pay."

Staff profile: Jasmine Graham
|
We have to believe in the power of partnerships and making connections!
Sharetta Butcher is the office and volunteer coordinator for North by Northeast Clinic, one of our referring partner clinics. She thought her sister-in-law, Jasmine Graham, would be a great care coordination support specialist at Project Access NOW, so she suggested Jasmine apply for the job.
She was right! Project Access NOW welcomed Jasmine to the team in March of 2011.
Jasmine's path to Project Access NOW was a winding road for sure.

Partner highlight: Outside In
|
We could not do what we do without the valuable collaboration of our wonderful partners. One of those partners is Outside In.
Since 1968, Outside In has lived its mission to help homeless youth and other marginalized people move towards improved health and self-sufficiency, continually evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of its clients.
Outside In has partnered with Project Access NOW since our beginning. Assistant Medical Director Dr. Tanya Page says she was excited to hear about Project Access NOW's program.
"We could always get patients in front of specialists willing to donate their services. That was never a problem," she says. But all too often patients need services beyond what the specialist is able to provide, services such as imaging tests, medications, surgery, etc. Now Outside In contacts Project Access NOW.

Thanks to House Cleaning Portland
|
|
We rely on so many people to help us carry out our work here and are so grateful to our health care partners, volunteer providers, community volunteers and other supporters. There is so much work to be done to ensure that our vulnerable neighbors get connected to the care they need. We'd rather spend all of our time making that happen than to take time to try and keep up on our own housekeeping around the office.
That's why we are so grateful to Audrey and Patty of House Cleaning Portland for the wonderful work they do to make sure our hard working staff and visitors can have a clean office space to work in and visit. We receive a generous discount for their services and we want to take this opportunity to just say, Thanks! It's one less thing we need to think about, which gives us more time for our clients.
If you are looking for a house cleaning service, we recommend House Cleaning Portland. Visit their website or give them a call at 503-380-3220.
