DADT REPEALED!
While we are a ways from full implimentation, we won a major victory for civil rights with the recent repeal of the military's discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.
In a moving speech before signing the legislation, President Obama stated: "For we are not a nation that says, 'don't ask, don't tell.' We are a nation that says, 'Out of many, we are one.'
We are a long way from full equality, but the repeal of DADT is a major step in our movement.

EMPLOYMENT NON-DISCRIMINATION INTRODUCED IN TEXAS
On January 14, 2011, Texas state representative Mike Villarreal announced he had introduced a bill (HB 665) banning employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Villarreal has filed similar legislation in each of the previous two sessions of the Texas Legislature. The fate of this proposal seems bleak, given the strong social-conservative presence in both houses of the Texas Legislature. However, Villarreal (a Democrat representing San Antonio) remains undaunted in his efforts to provide employment protection for Texas' GLBT citizens.
