Important New Year Tips
- Do you have kids OVER 18? -
If you have children who are over the age of 18, you should consider having each of them sign a medical power of attorney, medical record release, and financial power of attorney so that you can still make medical and financial decisions as well as having access to medical information for their children.
Once a child has reached the age of majority (18), no one, including parents, has the right to make medical/financial decisions or have rights to medical information, even if they are still financially supporting their children or have their children covered under their medical insurance.
- Do you have kids UNDER 18? -
If you go out of town without your children, will the person you leave them in the care of have the ability to make health care decisions or even travel with them? A document titled "Designation of Agent to Make Health Care Decisions for Children" allows you to appoint one or more individuals to make health care decisions for your children and allows such individuals to travel with your children, which would include taking them to and from school and activities.
Contact Lorie today to find out how to get these documents for your children!
