Border Sheriff's Posse                      03.04.10

Dear Posse,

I am sending this short update for Pam tonight while she is traveling.  We have not received any update about the situation in Monterey mentioned yesterday's update.  We did receive the following email from a friend of the Posse who ministers on both sides of the border.

Dear Pam,

Just to let you know I made it home safely yesterday from Monterrey.  The highway was calm and there were no roadblocks until I came to the Reynosa city limits.  The usual checkpoint was vacant and that concerned me as I wondered if the military had left Reynosa to the cartels.  But as I approached closer to Reynosa there was a very sizeable roadblock by the military and Federal police with bunkers made of sand bags and quite a few military vehicles and personnel.  Some people were stopped and searched.  I was waved through.

I crossed at the new Anzalduas bridge so I could avoid driving through all of Reynosa.  The US immigration was taking their time to thoroughly check all who were entering the US.

I was looking for news on the internet and came across the following video on Youtube.  It has quite a few pictures of some of the violence in Reynosa.  It is in Spanish.  The person who made it starts it out with pictures of the peaceful Reynosa the local government says exists.  Then it shows pictures and has commentary of the violence that has occurred there.  It was done very tastefully as a way of expressing some frustration and sadness at what has happened and not in a way to criticize or throw blame.

A pastor friend of mine in Reynosa had to hit the floor with her family the other day when a gun battle started right outside their home.  When it was over they counted 12 bullet holes or marks on the front wall of their home.  I think that happened last Tuesday or Wednesday.  She sent out an email asking for prayer but offered no details.  I learned the rest from her superintendent in Monterrey.

We keep praying for law enforcement on both sides of the border.

There is no dialog.  I have done a translation of the main text.  It may be a little rough, but I think it is pretty close.  What struck me as I watched the video is how powerfully the pictures convey the message, even without words.  The line that runs at the top of the video throughout says, "This is Reynosa, city with no future, Feb 25, 2010."

The first slide says,"This is the Reynosa we all dream of, a Reynosa where one can go out to walk, to enjoy the company of our families.  Reynosa, city with a future."

The second slide says, "But the reality is something else."

On the side-by-side pictures of the metal sculpture, the captions say, "Before" and "After."

On the picture of the dead man sitting in a chair, the caption says, "Reynosa, a place to rest (in peace)."

The message on the last series of slides is, "Reynosa, city with a future, at least that's what the authorities want us to believe, what they want Mexico and the world to see."

"But the reality is something else.  2009 was a year of many changes for the people of Reynosa, events that marked the city and the life of many citizens ..."

"After one year, things are the same or worse.  We don't have security to go out anywhere without fear that something is going to happen.  We are living in insecurity and violence, but the worst is that we are alone."

"The authorities ignore or want to ignore the actual situation, which is a nightmare for many people, from which we all want to wake up and hope that everything will be alright in this city we all love."

I know you will be impacted by seeing with your own eyes what you have read about.  I certainly was.  Please continue to pray for the people of Mexico and for law enforcement officials on both sides of the border.  Pray also for the men and women of the Mexican military who are being called upon to stand up against the cartels.

I thank God for people like this videographer who have the courage to tell the truth.  Pray for his protection.  Join me in praying that every secret will be revealed and that all that is hidden will be known and come to light, as promised in Luke 8:17.

Praying with you for Mexico and for America,

ABOUT THE BORDER SHERIFF'S POSSE
LinkAmerica sponsors the Border Sheriff's Posse to "ride" the U.S. borders in intercession and to "pardner" with intercessors around the United States to protect the 26 counties along the US/Mexico border.  It is critical that we take our place on this fence.

You won't be flooded by email, but I periodically send specific information and prayer points.  We support ALL law enforcement agencies, pray that illegal activity will be stopped (drugs, human trafficking, etc.) and declare that those who are slipping across America's borders with the intent to cause harm be exposed and apprehended.

This is not about politics!  This is about the protection of the United States of America.  I was visiting with a prophetic intercessor who did not know about the Border Sheriff's Posse when she pointed her finger and said, "And right now God is pinning badges on hidden intercessors.....like a Sheriff's badge," and, with that, she poked her finger into my shoulder!

Are you being "deputized by 'The Sheriff' to aid in law enforcement?"  Will you join me as we ride with the Lord, our Border Sheriff?  We'll "ride" the fence.  We'll catch rustlers, mend spiritual fences and sing some great trail songs along the way as we worship over our borders.

Please use the Subscribe link at the top of this email to join the Posse.
